BIO-AGE tournament during European Week of Sport at Warta Poznań

As part of the BIO-AGE project, we organized a special BIO-AGE tournament during the European Week of Sport (EWS) in collaboration with AWF Poznań - Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego im. E. Piaseckiego w Poznaniu. The event aimed to promote an individualized approach to training youth athletes, focusing on their biological rather than chronological age. This innovative method optimizes training loads and, importantly, helps reduce injury risks.

At the tournament, young players born in 2012 and 2013 from clubs including KS Grom Wolsztyn, MKS Przemysław Poznań, Warta Śrem, and TPS Winogrady participated in specialized testing. Speed trials (5m, 10m, and 30m sprints), power tests (vertical jumps on SJ platforms), and anthropometric measurements allowed us to accurately assess the players' biological maturity levels.

Based on the results, the players were grouped into categories: early-maturing, late-maturing, and age-consistent developers. This unique classification enabled a more individualized training approach, aligning with BIO-AGE's core objective.

The tournament concluded with the distribution of gifts and commemorative photos. The primary goal of the BIO-AGE project is to minimize disparities and provide equal opportunities for players at different stages of maturity, particularly supporting late-maturing athletes by considering their biological development.
